‘Time Loops & Meet Cutes’: A Review

⏳️ If actions had no consequences, what would you do?
What chances would you take?

Stuck in a time loop on Friday, June 20 (a.k.a. the longest day of the year), Noelle’s life turns upside down after eating some mysterious dumplings at a night market.

With no clue how to escape, and no consequences to her actions, she starts breaking out of her comfort zone with the help of her new friend Avery (another woman trapped in the same loop), reconnects with family, and repeatedly bumps into Cam, a charming brewery owner. Their many awkward, sometimes embarrassing meet-cutes spark a romance that makes Noelle wonder: Will Cam ever remember her name? And if the loop ever ends, what would their relationship look like in the “real” world?

I tore through this in 2 sittings - it’s a fun, summery read that blends magical realism with themes of growth, choice, and connection. I loved how the time loop gave Noelle the chance and freedom to try new things. The idea of us humans having so many choices in life, making tens of thousands of decisions every day (an average of 35,000, apparently!), which could take us on different paths & result in multiple different futures/timelines is always so fascinating to me.

That said, the repetition of the time loop did start to drag a bit, but it made sense to the story. In a way, we got to experience Noelle’s & Avery’s emotions of being stuck in the time loop - “When will this end?!” I wish we’d gotten more story post-time loop; the resolution felt a little too easy.

TL;DR: an enjoyable, feel-good read about self-discovery, friendship, romance, all brought together by a touch of magic ✨️🥟
