Two Songs, Two Different Points in Life
The first song is Coeur Volant by Howard Shore, performed by Zaz. For starters, it reminds Valeria of her life in France. She and her family had moved to England before Alain started at Hogwarts several years ago. The lyrics are very comforting to her as a girl who loves magic. It reminds her to do things that she enjoys doing, not for the sake of her parents or anybody else but for herself.
The second song is Perspective, by Pathos. This song and its lyrics accurately reflect how Valeria currently feels about her life and how she incessantly yearns for adventure - a way she thinks will be able to help her find herself. It also places emphasis on her social life: how she feels as if she is unnoticed by many, and as a result, is decaying. Valeria perceives her current life as unfulfilling, where days just pass quickly without much excitement. And this is where exploring comes into play.
One song is representative of her as a child with no worries, hopeful to become a strong witch. The other, metaphorical of her teenage years.
