Character Questionnaire
1. What is your real, birth name? What name do you use?
I was born Valeria Corinne Géroux, and that is the name I identify with. There is a meaning behind my name, maman tells me. Valeria means brave, strong, and valiant; Corinne means beautiful maiden; Géroux (my surname) is spear + wolf. I like my name, but after learning the meanings, it is clear that my parents have had high expectations for me since birth. Oh, and I am of French descent, hence the French names.
2. Do you have a nickname? What is it, and where did you get it?
As of now, I only have one nickname: Val. It is short for Valeria, and I believe the first person to call me that was my brother. It definitely would not have been my parents’ idea as they are highly, how do I explain this, proper, and do not particularly enjoy nicknames. I think they are clever, though.
3. What do you wear when you go to sleep?
This seems like a silly question. Clothes.
4. Do you wear any jewelry?
Jewelry gets in my way, so the only thing I wear is a small pair of diamond studs. Maman insists I wear at least one piece of jewelry.
5. In your opinion, what is your best feature?
I have been told countless of times that my eyes are beautiful - mystique, alluring, piercing, etc. I would assume it is because cerulean eyes are quite rare amongst my family and relatives. I do not know where they came from, but I, too, agree that this is my best feature.
6. What’s your real birth date?
June 30.
7. Where do you live? Describe it: Is it messy, neat, avant-garde, sparse, etc.?
Currently, I live inside the Hogwarts castle - it’s magnificent! I prefer to keep my space neat and tidy, with a minimalist approach. Simple over decorative for my liking. I do not believe in possessions in the sense that I will only keep things of value (both in monetary and sentimental value) or for future use. The Géroux manor, where I reside whilst not at Hogwarts, is rather large, considering the only main occupants are my parents, my brother, and myself. Overall, there is a fairly dark undertone to the colours of the places I live.
8. What is your most prized mundane possession? Why do you value it so much?
Mundane? I don’t quite understand…but in terms of most prized possession, does my owl count? She is my best friend and a gift from Alain. If not, then I guess it would be the phoenix feather quill papa brought back for me as a present for my first year at Hogwarts.
9. What one word best describes you?
Ordinary.
10. What was your family like?
Was, or is? And family as in my parents and siblings, or extended family - grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles… that doesn’t matter anyways because I do not feel like talking about those extended so-called family of mine. Maman and papa are both very stern and proper, I can say that for sure. Alain is…well, he’s Alain. Charming, superior, brilliant…everything I am not.
